The Journey

A Photographic Journey of My Ten Years.

Ten years · Ten places

The world through my eyes.

Ten destinations, one decade — each one a chapter. Explore the map below.

The Book

A decade, seen from a child's window seat.

My 10 Years is not a guidebook. It's what a boy notices that grown-ups walk straight past — the food, the strangers who became friends, the strange and wonderful shape of the world at eye-level. Ten chapters. 70 countries. One remarkable decade.

The author

Benson Nyangwine

Benson is ten years old this October. He has already stood in the shadow of the pyramids, watched the lights of Singapore come on after dark, and felt snow for the very first time.

This book is his — his eyes, his voice, his decade. What began as a boy's notebook became ten chapters worth sharing with the world.

In Marrakesh the whole city smelled of oranges and smoke, and a man taught me to say thank you in a language I didn't know I'd remember forever.

A word of thanks
❦

Before I ever saw the world, I had my family. Thank you to my father, Nyambari Nyangwine, and my mother, Margreth Nyangwine, who packed the bags and pointed me at the horizon. To my brother, Bernad Nyangwine, and my sister, Bhoke Nyangwine — every journey was better because you were in it. This book is yours as much as it is mine.
